Universal Music Mixtape - What?

I can’t believe that Universal has dropped a mixtape. Forget about Young Jeezy these are the real corporate thugs.
After first quietly sanctioning “illegal” mixtapes and then allowing the arrests of DJ Drama and Don Cannon, Universal Music now has the audacity to drop their own “legal” mixtape.
On July 13, they released the first installment of their Lethal Squad Mixtape series which features some no name DJ from D.C. mixing a bunch of half decent shit (Common, “The Game”) with some utter garbage (Curtis, “Amusement Park”) that is all widely available elsewhere.
What a perfect example of music execs not knowing what the fuck is going on in the world. Honestly, I’m not even that mad at their flagrant hypocrisy, it’s the incompetent execution that disgusts me. If you’re gonna do something like this, at least get a respected DJ that somebody has heard of and give people some exclusive music.
How are you gonna recycle shit off of albums that you have already profitted from or stand to profit from? This is nothing more than a label sanctioned attempt at a street version of those NOW CD’s that drop every couple of months. Whoever thought this shit up should be tarred and feathered.
